Let it be stated on record here; this Diwali weekend is all set to be the biggest ever in the history of Indian cinema when it comes to footfalls on this festive occasion. Last year, a record of sorts was created when the combined collections of BLUE, ALL THE BEST and MAIN AURR MRS. KHANNA (despite is bare minimal figures) were the best ever that Bollywood had seen for Diwali releases. Between the three of them, a sum total of 50 crores was crossed at the box office and though none of the films proved to be clean hits in a long run, at least there were celebrations galore in the first week.
Now is the time for Diwali 2010 and it is rest assured that the 50 crores total would be left behind by a huge margin, courtesy the twin release of GOLMAAL 3 and ACTION REPLAYY. In fact with DABANGG'proving loud and clear that there is a capacity of over 80 crores existing in a single week if a film is being loved, there is at least 20% more capacity available due to larger number of shows when GOLMAAL 3 and ACTION REPLAYY are combined together.
With close to 100 crores market available to be explored in one week flat, sky is the limit for both the new Diwali releases to make moolah. Rest assured, both the films are bound to open quite well as they have been optimally promoted. This means that the opening weekend is bound to be the best ever. Of course the content will do the talking eventually but the way hype is growing with every passing day for both the films; it would hardly be a surprise if the sum total of ACTION REPLAYY as well as GOLMAAL 3 crosses the first week record total of DABANGG.
Fingers crossed and here is wishing both the films a great celebratory run at the box office.
